How do I join the library?
If you wish to join the library you can:
Fill in a form at the library. You will need some kind of ID e.g. passport, utility bill, bus pass etc. If the membership is for someone under 16, this requires a parents signature. Alternatively you can join on line through the LCC website.
Are all the books for loan?
The vast majority of books are for loan but there are a few that are for reference only.
How many books can I loan at one time?
How long can I keep the books for?
Books are loaned for a three week period. If you wish to keep the books for longer then they can usually be renewed for a further three weeks by either calling in at the library or telephoning. If one of the books has been reserved by another customer then unfortunately the book could not be renewed.
Do you have e books?
E books are available through the LCC website to all members of a Leicestershire library. There are also a wide range of magazines available through this service. Leaflets are available in Burbage Community library giving all the details.
Are children welcome in the library?
Children are welcomed and encouraged to use the library. However, all children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to be a member to use the library?
All members of the public are welcome to come into the library to browse the books, gain information from leaflets, directories etc that are available. The photocopier can also be used (a charge is made for each copy). However, membership is required to make full use of the library services – borrow books, reserve books, use PCs, connect to the WiFi .
What if I am late returning books or can’t get them back on time?
Books can be renewed via telephone if you cannot get into the library before the due date. Charges are applicable for overdue books – a list is up in the library as it depends on the type of ticket e.g. Adult, child, etc how much the charges are. Charges are made per day when overdue. Books can be placed through the library letterbox when closed and the return date will be the last day the library was open. E.g. If put through the letterbox on a Monday morning, they would be considered as returned on Saturday (the previous day the library was open as it is not open on a Sunday). If charges have been incurred and books are returned in this way, the charge will stay on the customer card and will be displayed for payment on the next visit.
How can I volunteer at the library?
If you are interested in volunteering, we are always looking for extra help. You can either call or email us (contact details can be found on the visiting page) or drop in to the library and leave you contact details and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch.
How can I connect my laptop/tablet/phone to the library WiFi?
Power up your laptop/tablet/phone and go to the list of visible networks; select “LCC Public”, click “connect” and use your library card details to log in.
How can I book the library for an event or register as an ‘authorised user’?
